Composite wood decking is a safe and durable alternative to solid wood decks. It’s a decorative item constructed from recycled plastic and wood fibers. It has a gorgeous wood appearance and is weather-resistant. EVOEDK provides a novel composite decking material for the architectural decoration sector. It is extremely rugged and has excellent environmental adaptability for use in a wide range of environments and weather conditions.
When installing composite decking, you can use matching hidden fasteners. These hidden fasteners not only make deck installation easy but also give composite decking a smooth, clean look. Read this article to find out how composite wood decking differs from wood decking. Before you begin, you need to take basic safety precautions. This tutorial will teach you how to install and secure composite decking properly.
As with any construction job, it is critical to remain safe and follow all safety procedures. Prepare with protective gear like clothes, gloves, safety glasses, and a mask to keep dust at bay. Once you have received your composite wood decking, we recommend that you allow it to acclimate to the weather and temperature in your area for two weeks before beginning installation.
Building a deck in the cold is not a good idea. Working with composite wood decking requires only basic carpentry tools. To cut the boards, use a miter saw with a fine-tooth blade. Before cutting, make sure the deck boards are adequately supported.
These two points should not be overlooked when planning a deck project. When working on an existing deck, concrete foundation, or solid surface, you can easily construct the deck framing on top of a low-lying installation area. If you’re going to build on a roof deck or balcony, you’ll need to set the frame on a network of footings to raise it off the ground. This will protect the roof’s waterproofing membrane.
If it is to be built on soft or uneven terrain, a network of posts fixed into the ground will be required. Then, construct the decking frame on top of these posts. This ensures that the composite decking is sturdy and level, while also protecting the structure from the weather.
Here’s the best advice we can give you on how to anchor composite decking in the ground. Composite joists are a better deck framing material since they are naturally weather-resistant. However, suppose you want to utilize natural timber. In this case, we strongly recommend that you use tanned (pressure-treated) lumber to build your deck framing. Also, seal any visible ends when you cut the boards to ensure the framing lasts as long as possible.
Lay the framing after measuring and ensuring that the ground is level and sturdy. Then as well as adding the necessary support for the composite wood decking. Most homes require a spacing of 16 inches, however, any gap between 12 and 24 inches is considered safe. The smaller the gap between the joists, the stronger the framing. Consider the thickness of the joists. The stronger and thicker the joists, the more secure the deck will be.
Next, screw the joists together to hold the structure in place. If the deck is installed on top of a patio or concrete, the framing is simply secured to the ground. If this is not the case, screw the frame into the network of posts and bases to keep it secure on the ground. If desired, use cement to anchor it to the ground.
IMPORTANT: Leave a 10 mm gap between the end of the joist and the beam to allow for their thermal expansion. Also, if you are utilizing composite decking material, ensure sure the bolt holes are 3 mm larger than necessary. If you are affixing the post network to the ground, ensure that the posts are properly fastened at least 500 mm below the surface.

Place hidden starter clips at the frame’s head and tail, as well as the tops of the framing joists, where they will be fastened. Because you will be pushing the deck planks into these clips, make sure they are level with the edge of the frame. Attach the starting clips to the frame and tighten them.
Now, move the first deck board from side to side, ensuring that the starter clips are inserted into the plank’s grooves. It is critical to push the plank until it is securely seated.
Finally, place the tooth side of the special clip in the side notch where the first deck board meets the framing joist. Drilled holes should be used to screw each particular clip into the first board and framing joist. The screw holes must be aligned with the center of the joist. In addition, fasten the fasteners to the butt section of each board, to the end of the board, and to each joist.
To install each new board, just push the groove on the exposed side of the new board against the preceding board’s specific clamp to guarantee a secure connection. The particular clamp is then tightened around the other edge of the board before sliding the next board into position. And so on, until the final two composite decking planks are fit. It is vital to provide at least an 8mm gap between the cross-sections of each plank to allow for expansion.
Mark the position of the last plank’s edge on the last joist using the width of the last two planks and the spacing between them.
Then, just as you did with the first piece of decking, screw hidden starter clips to the ends of the framing and the tops of the framing joists in the set positions indicated by the marks. Place the final board over the hidden starter clips and fit them in place.
Screw the special clips into each joist and the side groove of the final plank (the side facing the other trim boards that have been laid). This will make the boards more secure to the frame.
Remove the penultimate plank and, while holding it at an angle, press one of the pieces into the specific clip disclosed on the last plank. This will snap it into place.
Finally, insert the final special clip through the seam on the other side of the penultimate plank, between the second and third planks. And tighten it when it is in the center of each seam.

Finally, cover the remaining visible structure with composite fascia boards. This will give the deck a level, smooth appearance. Simply cut the fascia boards to the appropriate length and fit them at the frame ends with standard joist spacing.
Compared with natural wood, composite flooring is more environmentally friendly, durable, non-slip, and corrosion-resistant. EVODEK can provide you with laminate flooring in a variety of different surfaces and colors. Such as a Facade and wall Panel, so you don’t have to spend the extra time and cost of sealing or painting your laminate flooring.
Furthermore, it can last for 25 years or more, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming annual upkeep that a natural wood deck would require. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
